Hope you all had a great Christmas! So transfers were today and my comp and I are staying for our third transfer in the offices. There were a TON of changes in the mission this transfer though. And since this is the last transfer of Elder and Sister Fischbeck, 2 Elders are coming to start their training. They are Elder Lindley (Sec Ejecutivo) and Elder Barthlome (Sec Finanzas). They will also be staying with us now so their will be 3 gringos and my comp in our house...#party, haha. But, we are going to help my comp a lot with his English and we are going to try to speak Spanish a lot for him. So, they have 6 weeks to train with the Fischbecks. I only had one week, which was really 5 days due to General Conference, haha. I'm excited because I know both of them already. Pero bueno.
I had a fun experience Wed night which left my comp and I walking the streets of Bogotá at 11pm and going to bed at 1:30am. There were a few sister missionaries that went to the hospital and I had to go to the office to get papers ready for them. And not one taxi stopped for us so we walked all the way to the office, and I only got freaked out once! :)
Anyway, Christmas was so much better than last year! The members actually seem to care for us in this ward, which is AWESOME! On Christmas Eve we went to a members house who is German and her husband (less active) and son (less active) were there. It was really awesome and we talked about what our Christmas traditions are. Then on Christmas I talked to the fam which was fun, even with the technical difficulties, haha. And then we went to the mission home at 3pm and ate linner with President and his family, the Fischbecks and the assistants. I learned my lesson and didn't eat BASTANTE this time so that I wasn't dying after. Then Elder Calaway played the violin and Sister Fischbeck played the piano in a duet for 3 songs. And then Elder Calaway and I sang "La Primera Navidad". It was definitely much better than last year. PLUS, I wasn't sick...YAY!
There weren't many people at church because almost everyone is on vacations. But my comp and I have been finding a lot of less active members. We don't have many investigators but we are talking with the less actives and having them bring friends or family to the lessons with them. Unfortunately, their friends haven't been in our area yet but we know that if we keep working we will find someone. It is still a tough time for me for many reasons, but the good part is I know everything is possible. I know that this is the only and true church of Jesus Christ. I know that He lives and I know that He loves us. I know that God gives us weakness so that we can humble ourselves and come unto Him. I love you all and thank you for your support. HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR!!
