BUENAS!
Hope you all had a great week! Its crazy to think that in a few days I will have one year in the mission! How did that happen? Today for P-day we went to the Cacique Mall at the edge of our zone. It was fun looking around at stuff. Technology has advanced ALOT. It's crazy what advancements are made in just one year. However, it was a little weird looking around and all the prices being from 40,000 pesos to 250,000 pesos and some at 600,000 pesos, haha. But with the dollar being at 2,900 pesos some stuff came out to be really cheap! So I may buy a lot of stuff before coming home , haha.
Anyway, the work has been interesting. Last week, I talked about how we found great people and how they are progressing. Then the week continued and some don't answer us now and others aren't home when we have appointments. But the worst is when THEY DON'T GO TO CHURCH! It's the most frustrating thing ever when week after week they say they are going to go to church and then we wait and wait and they never come. We may have to leave some of them for a while :( But that's the mission. Going from high to low in a blink of an eye. Plus having other struggles on top of those from your investigators. And even though going through all of this is the hardest thing I've done in my life...I love it and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If there is one thing that I've learned during my mission so far its that even though you can go from a high point to a low point super fast, you can also go from a low point to a high point just as fast, or even faster. The key is to keep working and trusting in the Lord. Because when we are striving to do the right things and keep the commandments, we are able to receive the blessings that God has in store for us. And well, blessings = Happiness. So even though times are rough right now, I'm going to keep going and try my best because that's all that the Lord asks of me. So if any of you guys are in a rut or in a pit of despair right now... don't give up! As Elder Jeffery R. Holland said, " Every one of us has times when we need to know things will get better... My declaration is that this is precisely what the gospel of Jesus Christ offers us, especially in times of need. There is help. There is happiness. There really is light at the end of the tunnel... Some blessings come soon, some come late, and some don’t come until heaven; but for those who embrace the gospel of Jesus Christ, they come. "
I love this gospel and I know that it is true. Thank you all for your love and support.
Love, Elder Richmond
